The Historic District Commission of the Town of Laytonsville will conduct a public hearing on Application HDWP 04-24 for the property located at 21607 Laytonsville Road owned by The Town of Laytonsville.
Application HDWP 04-24 requests a Work Permit from the Town’s Historic District Commission to do the following chimney repairs at Laytonsville Town Hall: 1. Knock off all loose debris from chimney foundation and two other noted areas in cellar. 2. Re-point mortar between stones in all three areas with Portland cement to shore up foundation and ensure structural stability. 3. Set up scaffolding/roof ladders as needed to properly access chimneys. 4. Grind and repoint all mortar joints from roof line up on both chimneys. 5. Lay new concrete crowns for chimney tops, fiber reinforced and properly sloped to shed water away. 6. New 8"x8" flue tiles for top of either chimney and cap off with stainless steel sheet metal to prevent water/animal entry.
Section 127.05 (a) of the Town of Laytonsville’s Zoning Ordinance requires an historic district work permit for constructing, reconstructing, moving, relocating, demolishing or in any manner modifying, changing or altering the exterior features of any designated historic site or historic resource located within the Town.
Copies of the proposal will be available at Town Hall. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Burke, Town Clerk, at clerk@comcast.net.
