NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

The Historic District Commission of the Town of Laytonsville will conduct a public hearing on Application HDWP 05-23 for the property located at 6920 Sundown Road owned by the Vestry of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.

  • 2.     Approval of minutes of the May 15, 2023, meeting
  • 3.     Public Hearing on Historic District Work Permit Application 05-23 submitted by the Vestry of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church to erect a sign at 6920 Sundown Road (Temperance Hall)
  • 4.     Commission discussion and action on Work Permit Application 05-23
  • 5.     Review of the status of the proposed consolidated guidelines for the use of the HDC and discussion of exactly what the commission now wishes to recommend to the Town Council
  • 6.     Open forum on Laytonsville historic preservation issues
  • 7.     Reminder that the commission’s next regular monthly meeting is scheduled for July 17, 2023

Application HDWP 05-23 requests a Work Permit from the Town’s Historic District Commission to install a 4’ high x 6’ wide two-sided sign that will be white with green lettering. The sign will read:

St. Bartholomew’s

Meeting House

Temperance Hall

circa 1850

 

Section 127 of the Town of Laytonsville’s Zoning Ordinance requires an historic area work permit for erecting or causing to be erected any sign or advertisement (with the exception of those signs which temporarily advertise for sale, lease, rental or renovation of a historic site or a historic resource located within the Town, or which for a temporary period advertise a political viewpoint) on the exterior or on the environmental setting of any historic site or any historic resource located within the Town.
