The town council meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Town Hall. Residents of the town are encourage to attend. Minutes of Town Council Meetings and work sessions have been moved to "Meeting Minutes" Town Council Members The Town Council is elected by the voters for two year terms. Elections are held in May of each year with two council seats elected one year and three seats elected the following year.
Town Council Member Backgrounds Dan Prats has been a resident of Laytonsville for five years and has served on the council since 2008. A former member of the Historic District Commission (2006-2008), he now serves as President of the Laytonsville Historical Center. Holding a Masters of Public Administration from the University of New Hampshire, he has served in state and local governments, as well as in private industry. Dan has one daughter, Ellie, born in 2006, and is married to his wife, Sidra. Charles Bradsher has been a resident of Laytonsville for the past five years and has and has served as a Council Member since 2002. Charles works for the Department of Defense in Fort Belvoir, VA and also serves in the Army National Guard. Charles and his wife Kris have one son, Chip (4). Dave Preusch has been a resident of Laytonsville for the past 19 years. Dave has served as a Council Member for the Town since 1995. Dave works at Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. a civil engineering design company. Dave and his wife, Sherry, have two daughters, Jessica (22) and Jennifer (23). Josh Pomeroy Josh Pomeroy, along with his wife Kate, joined the Laytonsville community in 2003. Josh is a phycisist at the National Insititute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg and Kate is math teacher with MCPS. Their household expanded with the addition of their daughter Maggie in 2008 and again with their daughter Ellie in 2010. Josh joins the council after several years on the Board of Appeals. James A. Ruspi My wife, Jill, and I have been residents of Laytonsville since 1979. However, since 1965 we have lived in other nearby areas in Montgomery County. Our four children attended Laytonsville Elementary School before going to Gaithersburg High School. After graduating from Penn State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, I started working for the USDA where I worked for 37 years. I retired in 2003 after working as a Program Manager for over 7 years. I am active in church and am a Past President of the Laytonsville Lions Club. I also served for 5 years on the Laytonsville Zoning Board of Appeals. My hobby is gardening and I spend much of my time interacting with our 9 grandchildren, all of whom live nearby.
