MEETING MINUTES
January 18,2010

Roll Call;
The regular meeting of the Laytonsville Historic District Commission (HOC) was called to order by the Chair, Ms. Wenger, at 7:39 p.m. Commission Members: Wenger, Howes , Ruspi and Hendricks were present. Member Shortley was absent.

Minutes:
The minutes of the November 16, 2009 meeting were approved.
Preliminary Statement by Chair
Was read in advance of the opening of the hearing.
NEW BUSINESS:
The hearing for HDWP 02-09 submitted by Subhas and Kasha Malghan of 21714 Rolling Ridge Ln. opened at 8:5 1pm. The purpose and intent was read by the Chairman. The application was presented and exhibits were submitted in accordance with the requirements. The application seeks approval for construction of an 18' x 16' deck using pressure treated lumber. Includes two set of stairs with open risers; an 1 8' x 20' paver patio with an 18" knee wall; two 3' paver walkways one on each side to meet with the side basement door and driveway apron; and a 10' x 16' storage shed. Landscaping will be installed around the patio and deck. After some discussion regarding the plan as submitted the application was approved as submitted with the following conditions: the shed siding, roofing and shutter will be of a color consistent with the main house. The applicant will provide a landscape plan once established. The applicant will provide new architectural drawings and dimensions should there be any significant changes, which will be reviewed by the HDC for appropriateness. The hearing closed at 8: 15pm. Member Hendricks made a motion of approval with conditions. Seconded by Member Howes. The motion was approved.
Member Ruspi will forward the information on the planting program endorsed by the County, which will reimburse homeowners for planting specific tree species.
Discussion continued with Mr. and Mrs. Malghan regarding the expertise available to him through the town.
Member Hendricks informed the HDC that Mr. Tim Shortley would be featured in a program at St. Bartholomew's church. St. Bart's offers a lecture series the first Tuesday of each month on varying subjects.
OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Azeem -fence arbitration had been filed with the county office. NV Homes has installed signs requiring pet owners to leash their dogs.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Member Ruspi, seconded by Member Howes. The motion was approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm.
