MEETING MINUTES
July 21, 2008
Roll Call :
The regular meeting of the Laytonsville Historic District Commission (HDC) was
called to order by the Chair, Ms. Wenger, at 7:39 p.m. Commission Members:
Howes, Prats, Shortley were present. Member
Ruspi and Alternate Member Hendricks
were absent.
Attendance : Chief
Sutton, Clarke Beall, Willard Oland and one guest.
Minutes :
Minutes were not available from the June 21, 2008 meeting. Ms. Nadine Tarwater will have them prepared
by the next meeting.
Preliminary Statement by Chair
The preliminary statement was read by the Chair at the start of the scheduled
hearings.
New Business:
Hearing 04-08, Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department, opened at 7.45pm. In attendance were Chief Sutton, Clarke Beall and Mr. Glen Stevens (architect). The hearing was conducted in accordance to the zoning and guidelines. The renovation of the front façade was discussed. All conditions as discussed at previous consultations were met. Motion made by Member Prats, seconded by Member Shortley. The application was unanimously approved as submitted.
Hearing 05-08, Town of Laytonsville, opened at 8:20pm. In attendance was Mayor Oland.
Several trees were damaged during a June 2008 storm. It was recommended by the Tree Committee that several trees be taken down. The large Maple at the SE corner of the house will be trimmed and cabled. The project was approved, with the condition that at the proper time the Town seek the advice of the Tree Committee for suitable replacements and proper location. Motion made by Member Shortley, seconded by Member Prats. The application was unanimously approved.
Old Business:
Mr. Benning certified that Lot 13 met with the height requirements. The grading was discussed and will be reviewed when the Natelli project is submitted.
Chair Wenger will
meet with Mr. Jeff Winstel regarding his University of Maryland course
regarding documentation and research.
Chair Wenger will make a presentation to the Mayor and Council regarding
this project at the next regular town meeting.
Adjourn :
There being no further business, Member Prats made the motion to adjourn the
meeting which was seconded by Member Wenger.
Motion carried unanimously. The
meeting adjourned at approximately 8:35 p.m.
