NOTICE OF ELECTION

A Laytonsville Town Election will be held on

Monday, August 31, 2020

The Mayor and Council unanimously adopted Emergency Ordinance 04-20 at the April 14, 2020 Town Council meeting. This Ordinance cancels the May 4, 2020 election and reschedules to August 31, 2020. This decision was made based upon the emergency currently presented by the COVID-19 virus, for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare of Town residents. 

The election will be held at the Laytonsville Town Hall, 21607 Laytonsville Road, and the polls are open from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. All citizens of the Town of the age of 18 years and upward and who are registered, bona fide residents of the Town for not less than thirty (30) consecutive days before the election shall be qualified to vote.

Absentee ballots will be available for this election. The application for an Absentee Ballot must be obtained from the Clerk at the Town Hall, 21607 Laytonsville Road, no later than 1:00 p.m., Thursday before the election date. As the Town Hall is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19, please call 301-869-0042 to request an absentee ballot application.  Completed Absentee Ballots must be received by the Clerk at 21607 Laytonsville Road (P.O. Box 5158) by mail, or hand delivery so that the same is received by the Town Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 31, 2020.  There is no procedure to provide for write-in ballots.

TOWN OF LAYTONSVILLE

NOTICE OF VOTER REGISTRATION

The Town of Laytonsville will hold an election for the positions of two Council Members on August 31, 2020.  All citizens of the Town of the age of 18 years and upward and who are bona fide residents of the Town for not less than thirty (30) consecutive days before the election shall be qualified to vote.  The Town of Laytonsville will utilize Montgomery County’s voter registration list for voter registration.  If a resident is not registered on Montgomery County’s voter registration list, the resident may register on the Town’s Supplemental Voter Registration List by written request to:  Town of Laytonsville, P.O. Box 5158, Laytonsville, MD  20882. Please include the registrant’s full name, address and age as of the day of the election.  No person shall be entitled to vote in a Town election unless he/she is duly registered to vote at least thirty (30) days prior to that election.

Absentee ballots will be available for this election.  Contact the Clerk for additional information.  There is no procedure to provide for write-in ballots.
