Meeting minutes of Town Council Work Session Meeting on July 15, 2003

As reviewed, approved, and accepted by the Town Council on August 5, 2003

Mayor Charles W. Oland opened the Work Session at 7:35 p.m. at the Town Hall. Council Members Frank Bennett, Tom Wilkinson and Dave Preusch were in attendance. Council Member Charles Bradsher was absent. The Clerk was present. There were 4 citizens present.

Mayor Oland reviewed the proposed Ordinance to Amend the Town’s Building Permit:

Attorney Stan Abrams prepared the document and additions made by Mr. Abrams were underlined in the proposed Ordinance. Other changes made by the Work Session are included in the attached proposed Ordinance as strike-outs or additions (which are bold and underlined.)

Mayor Oland reviewed the proposed Ordinance to Amend the Procedures and Requirements set forth in the Present Ordinance Authorizing Voting by Absentee Ballot. Changes made by the Work Session are included in the attached proposed Ordinance as strike-outs or additions (which are bold and underlined).

Mayor Oland reviewed the proposed Ordinance to repeal, rename and reenact with Amendments the Historic Area Zoning Ordinance. Changes made by the Work Session are included in the attached proposed Ordinance as strike-outs or additions (which are bold and underlined).

The above changes will be reviewed by Town Attorney, Stan Abrams.

The hearing on the three Ordinances is scheduled for August 5, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. just before the regular Town Council Meeting and notice was published in the Gaithersburg Gazette on July 9 and July 16, 2003

Catch Basin – South Montgomery Street: Council Members Dave Preusch and Frank Bennett visited the site. It was recommended that Mayor Oland and Council Member Bennett discuss the possible evaluation of the current catch basin with Jim Ruff of Macris, Hendricks.

Removal of Tree/Installation of Light at Town Hall Parking Lot: Mayor Oland recommended the removal of a diseased maple tree and the installation of a light. A determination will be made to see if former Mayor White had contacted anyone regarding the removal of the tree.
