Meeting minutes of Citizens Advisory Board
Meeting on January 13, 2004
As reviewed, approved, and accepted by the
Citizens Advisory Board on February 10, 2004
7TH
MEETING
Hoping that more people
would show up, the meeting was called to order at 7:55 PM. The four members present were Dubby Barber,
Brendan Deyo, Gina Eckenrode, and Eric
Wenger. Mayor Willard Oland was also
present for part of the meeting. The
minutes from the December 9, 2003 meeting were approved as written.
There were no hand-outs at
this meeting.
Route 108 By-Pass
Eric reported that the
committee was charged by the Mayor to come up with a plan for a by-pass in
preparation for the January 20, 2004 Town Council Work Session, to which John
Clarke of Elm Street Developers was invited.
Over the next hour, all four members actively participated in a lively,
thoughtful discussion on the topic.
The Town Council had decided
at their Dec. 2 meeting that they want to focus on the proposed By-Pass Option
A, because it is the only one entirely within the town limits. Gina was very concerned that the southwest
leg of Option A cuts right back of their house, and will in effect insure that
they have major traffic on three sides.
She voiced the opinion that since this proposal takes up such a large
proportion 2/3 of their property, that the southwest leg under consideration be
shifted in such a way as to get it off their land and requested that this leg
be placed as far away from the cluster of houses at the western edge of Brink
as possible. Willard suggested that
Option A be re-routed to curve more and clip only a corner of their land.
The remainder of the hour
was taken up with discussing a strategy for the Work Session in such a way that
the Town is in a good position to negotiate with Elm Street Developers for a
by-pass. We wished that our individual
plans allowed us to attend the Work Session and support our Chairman. With that we all wished Eric good luck on
Tuesday, January 20.
The meeting was adjourned
close to 9 PM, with the next meeting on February 10, 2004.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Eckenrode
Secretary
