Building Permits - Permits are required from the Town Clerk for additions, fences, swimming pools, accessory buildings, sheds, decks and driveways/aprons.  HOA approvals should be obtained and submitted with permit applications.   All necessary permits required by Montgomery County must be obtained prior to construction.   Montgomery County will ask to see the Town of Laytonsville permit before issuing the County permit.

Removal of trees - The Town has a Tree Ordinance was created to protect and preserve trees on public and private property in the Town, provide for public health, safety and general welfare, and promote the Town’s natural beauty. 

 A permit must be obtained to cut down a tree on public or private property that is considered to be a landmark tree.  A landmark tree has a trunk over 12 inches in diameter as measured 4½ feet from the average ground level.  Contact the Town Hall to request a permit.
